10% unemployment means you have to up your game

In a strong economy your choices for jobs could look much different from what you see today.  In some cases when things were going good employers would ask the candidate what hours they could work and what it would take to get them to come on board.

In this economy looking for a job takes skill and persistence.  You might have 100's of applicants showing up for the same job.  If you skllls are out of date, it maybe time to bring them up to date by taking classes or other training that would help make you more valuable to a potential employer.  And for those working companies are looking to stretch their dollar by getting more out of the work staff they already have.  And with the fear that my job might be the next one to be cut employees are scared.  So my best advice is to work hard and do everything you can to be as productive as possible.
